AbiWord
AbiWord can be said to be similar to Microsoft Word in that is a word processing program – and at the moment it is being developed into a high-end Word Processor. It was designed for use by those who want to learn to type, need it for personal reasons, or for formal work everyday.
AbiWord can be said to be a stand-out word processor because its developers are trying to make it into a truly cross-platform word processor. The AbiWord source code was thoroughly analyzed as it was being written so that eventually it could be applied for use with practically all operating systems though less time would be used for porting.
At the same time, AbiWord was supposed to allow for internationalization (or functionality compatible with multiple languages.) With this end in mind, AbiWord would be able to tap into a large market of potential users. In fact, AbiWord was developed as part of the AbiSource project.
